I agree on replacing both hoses. They are a pain. Once you remove that miserable torx from the oil thermostat I would replace with a 10 mm stud. Easier to deal with in my experience. Had an old curved handle 10 mm box end that worked well. Had problems with leaks at the oil thermostat before using a 10 mm bolt. Just find the right length and thread.
