As I understand it you are not programming the remote, you program the car to work with the remote. You fiddle with the key to tell the car to learn a new signal, then press a button on the remote. The car remembers the new signal. Nothing changes on the remote.

Can't see any reason why lots of cars couldn't learn the same signal.
