Yes, the LPT engine will not have the guts of the HPT engine (236HP in the Cabriolet) or even your 850 Turbo (222HP) but it should have a fairly good "off-the-line" acceleration. Up to 35mph it should be almost as good as any Volvo HPT engine, after that..."goodbye"! But you also gain 1 to 2mpg in fuel economy (if that is important to you)...not a bad engine, especially after a couple of thousands of miles.

As far as the displacement, the HPT engine has additional "sleeves" inside the five cylinders, for additional protection against the extra heat that the HPT engine produces; that decreases the displacement by 0.1L.

BTW, the LPT engine is NOT lame at all...it will beat the pants out of many cars out there, you will be surprised!
