Re: Why a LPT? C70 2001

well

agree with the following response, the C70 convertible is very heavy compared to the "old" S/V70.

i had a 2000 V70 T5 and just changed to the 2001 C70 conv one month ago. both automatic the T5 still 4-speed and the C 5-speed. up to now i noticed that the convertible makes me drive more quietly, most of all when the roof is open. i don't really miss the power (even in swiss mountains) i had on the T5. 190 HP is still enough and most of the volvo turbo engines have some extra hp's anyway from factory (they just tested an S60 T5 in switzerland and they measured 275 hp compared to 250 it should have).

of course you can do ecu-tuning, keep in mind that the old V70R was also the 2.4 engine boosted to 265 hp by factory. but drive it for a while and you'll see that you don't really need more power in a convertible.

up to now i cannot yet confirm that the mileage would be better with the lpt since my T5 was between 9 and 10.5 liters/100km the (still pretty new) C is between 10 and 12 (probably also the weight). but i remember the T5 became a lot more fuel-efficient after 20'000km, down 1-1,5 liters/100km.

you should definitely try to get a 5-speed automatic transmission rather than the 4-speed, it's much smoother and does more intelligent shifting.

hope this helps...

cheers
