For the amount of effort required to remove a parking brake cable, I wouldn't consider a used one. New ones at FCP are around 20 bucks.

Though the exercise on a junker is good experience, it's just such a pain in the a$$ job, that I'd hate to have to do it twice. Especially if one of those times is while laying in the mud of a pick-n-pull.
