Faulty Brake Pedal Position Sensor 850 95

DaveL,

Possible cause of the ABS 1-4-1 are; Signal led shorted to ground or supply, open circuit in ground or signal lead, Ground and signal lead shorted to one another, Faulty pedal sensor, Contact resistance in terminals. The pedal sensor is on your brake booster, just to the left of center and down a bit. With no pedal on, the sensor should read 224 to 274 Ohms, and the resistance increases with pedal pressure to infinite. The part number for the Sensor Set is 271892. If you replace it, push the pedal several times to bleed the vacuum out of the booster(ignition off) prior to removing the sensor. The end of the sensor has a rod with a colored plastic tip on it, install the new one with the same colored tip and you should be OK. Prior to replacing parts you might try cleaning the connector to the sensor and see if that helps.
