I don't think you did anything. I think the car may be suffering from a plugged PCV system as already suggested. Take a look at the video that BB suggested. This is pretty common on 850s.
Hopefully that's all it is. It may be a somewhat daunting repair for the novice, but it's not awfully hard so long as you research and take your time doing the PCV service.
A valve seal issue is also possible. Valve seal failures typically are indicated by the car blowing blueish smoke (oil) from the tailpipe after idling for a few minutes or coming off a long high vacuum condition (like a long downhill ride, foot off the gas.)
A valve seal replacement is more involved. I just did the valve seals and PCV on my '95 240,000 mile 854T. Pretty tough for the novice.
