Years ago it was pretty commonplace to turn rotors. Given how cheap they are now, and how expensive labor has become, most shops don't turn them anymore. In this case, it really just boils down to what condition they are in (grooved, glazed, rusty?).

I just bite the bullet and replace them now. Did it with my wife's car on Tuesday...
