Airbags... another thing. 850

Glad to hear you're all right. I read your subsequent post about head injuries and the crushed nature of the car. You're very fortunate.

Did you see that the SRS light was working when you bought the car, and up until you drove it the last time? I mean if the bulb was functioning. It isn't the first thing you would look for when you start the car, but maybe you noticed it before. A lot of times people will yank that thing if they get a consistent fault, or get a price quote to fix the system. The SRS systems in the 850 are pretty decent and don't have common shortcomings, but it's possible.

If you have access to the wreck at all, you might be able to see if the system is intact enough (and the electrical system too) to key the ignition and see if the system still reads OK. Naturally you need battery power for that. After that kind of an impact, chassis distortion, sitting outside, the system might have faulted anyway, meaning that you might find something that would satisfy you that the system was active, but that wasn't worth much in any sort of claim against the manufacturer or previous owner. Unless the bulb had been disabled.
