I'd want to be 100% sure that the check engine light was being triggered by a failing cat. There are lots of other possibilities. Your garage needs to get their sniffer up the tailpipe to check the emissions.
Have them read the codes, make a note of them if any and then reset back to zero. Check any codes to see what they are. Check again later. Reset should switch off the check engine light too. Report back.
Bosal is a known brand. If the cat is a bolt in, replacing it under warranty if it fails should be quick and easy if the bolts are given a coat of ceramic grease. The one on now may have to have the bolts drilled or torched out if it does use bolts.
