Duplicating a key using a local locksmith V70-XC70 1999

hello Klaus,

I acquired this 2006 xc70 about a week ago. It has only one key and it will lock but will not unlock. I have to use the physical key to unlock the car.

I am considering taking it to a local locksmith to see what he can do with it or get his advice.

The car has been sitting for at least three years I would guess from the evidence of spider webs, etc., throughout various inside areas. I tried pressing the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously but this brought no change.

Like your other correspondent I have only the one key and would like to get another but I have not yet spoken to the local Volvo dealer. He runs a wrecking yard for Volvo as well I might add.

What would be your course of action given these circumstances?
