The starter draw is not something us mere mortals comprehend. We replace the starter when it fails to function. The last couple of years, I have been shown that the starters get old and balky with age and hard use.

What I liked was your find on the positive wire to the starter. You not only found the problem but a solution for others to verify. Especially with the start/stop systems that are failing at intersections!
