Get both! Camera and mods :)
...it's only money.
Although I spent a few coins on a nice Ricoh 2.3 megapixel w 3Xs optical zoom (model RDC-5300) about 1.5yrs ago and it's a good digital camera, I won't tell you that it totally replaces a good 35mm camera. It's far more convenient overall but there's times when better results are obtained with 35mm, like certain lighting conditions and indoor photography where for some reason the digi-cam loses true colors.
I had a good, older Nikon 35mm until the light meter died and I was told that it'd cost almost to fix as another body. My lens are too good to give it up so I'll get another Nikon body someday, on my list of stuff to buy.
My main complaint with conventional film became storage. I have way too many slides and photo albums and slides are a pain to view normally. The PC is far easier for me now with digital.
