Check Engine Light

I've disconnected the battery on my 97 850GLT several times to clear the Check Engine Light. It works for about a day or two at most, and then the light comes on again. I noticed Volvospeed's procedure for resetting the light is for vehicles up to 1995. How is light reset/codes given on the 97? TIA
