My '97 855 is also having the same indications and the manual says to take it to the dealer. It coould be many things other than the evaporator; but they will all cost to repair. I am saving the write-up for the 100K check which is due in 4K more miles. It is pretty cold right now in Germany so I am not in a hurry to fix. Seems like it is always something in the 'near luxury' Volvo world!!!
