I wouldn't trade my brick for any Detroit junk, I don't care if it goes from 0-60 in 1 second. I did not buy my 1998 base model S70 (normally aspirated) to go fast (though I often drive it at triple-digit speeds), I have a motorcycle to do that. I bought my brick to haul the family around and make sure they and I are safe and comfortable in the car. I can also kick but of 90% of drivers on the road today regardless of what each of us drives. The average skill level of drivers today on the roads is that of a high school driver's ed student. This is what matters, not how fast you go from 0 to 60. The 0 to 60 crap is an artificial measure that means nothing and was invented by car mags to sell issues.

Detroit has not built a car I could be proud of yet and I reckon they never will, though they have come a long way from '76 Pinto. They cars you are describing are powerful and fast in a straight line, but in a real life situation they are poor-handling, gas guzzling uncomfortable bathrooms on wheels. My brick is not perfect, but it is a very good engineering compromise between comfort, safety and performance for REAL LIFE, not contrived car magazine tests.
