Repainting my wagon 850 1997

Fortunately, as you've said, you need the roof and hood repainted. That's very possible, since it's hard to see the paint next to other body panels, especially on a wagon. The hood will be the only part that will stand out next to the quarter panels, but it can (and will) be blended appropriately.

You can spend several thousand dollars getting the thing repainted, if you want a good job done. I'd suggest just the hood and roof for the best overall results with respect to BOTH price and looks.

Pick a shop that you see a lot of nice cars in front of. It's nice to see the PPG or ICAR shops and whatnot, but that isn't necessarily a guarantee that your car will come out the best possible. It is totally dependent on who is putting the paint on your car, how the prep work is done, and all factors in between. If you see a lot of nice work from one shop, chances are that they're a good place to take it. The Volvo dealer might be able to recommend their shop to you too, but that--again--isn't a guarantee of the best possible work.

For example, I used to see a Lincoln Mercury body shop that always had high line foreign cars coming out. ANd they looked nice. You just never know where the best shop is until you start checking around.
