Nick - You don't mention how you like the ride from the driver's seat. Have you ever ridden in the rear with your son? Perhaps there is some issue with his car seat, certainly the elevation of the seat may accentuate some if the motions back there.

Volvos sure do ride hard, but their suspensions do seem to hold up pretty well. I've never seen a Volvo wagon that sagged much in the rear.

How about taking him for a ride in some other Volvos to see if they are better. Other cars? Right now many dealers are eager to sell their stock, go out and test some.
