The thing about SUV's is that they're not "Sporty"......not safe to drive over 60Mph, nor "Utility" ie. "Usefull".....they have the image of a vehicle that is intended for off-road use but will never leave pavement except in a rollover.
Volvo wagons are the only true sport utility vehicles. They will carry as much or more with better gas mileage, are more suited to more spirited driving, and are far safer.
I understand Volvo's decision to put out a SUV. They need to offer a vehicle that will appeal to the current mass stupidity for SUV's. At least the XC90 is better than the others out there. Hopefully, the XC90 will be a magnet to draw Explorer/CR-V/Navigator folks in and get them into a V70 or V40.
