Get another indy shop as this one doesn't seem to know anything about Volvos.
There is no filter, the pan draining exercise is useless as it drains only 2 litres out of 8 litre transmission capacity. Go to http://www.geocities.com/ozbrick850/ or www.volvospeed.com for an info on tranny flush procedure.
