Juan- car manufacturers build new models way in advance of the MY designation!! They also know way in advance that in, say MY '04, their top models will have 'auto start options', 'super HID lights', etc, etc. So, Volvo knew that in mid-97(as MY 98) they would release S70s/V70s, so they had to stop making 850s by late 1996 to early 1997. As a matter of fact someone posted that some 850 and s70 were made at the same time along side each other. My 97 854T5 was built in 11/96(acquired 2/97) so if anyone has an S/V70 built in 11/96, this would confirm the theory.
My friend just bought a 2002 Sienna and the build date is 7/01. Technically his van is 6 months old!!! BD
