850,940,960.....What's the difference??? 850

We currently own
1988 740 GLE wagon - 225,000 miles - Great car, economical and dependable, personally my favorite, starting to show some signs of old age, AC not working, had wiring problems with left low beam headlight, mass air sensor, worn driver's seat. Headed for the chopping block after...
1990 Turbo sedan - 228,000 miles - this is a solid, dependable, sharp looking, fast car. Running out of compression, driver's seat worn, AC not working. Personally I would repair and keep these cars for another 10 years, but my daughters use them, and both travel a lot - like cross country. On the chopping block. For three grand, someone will have a chance to experience the best of Volvo.
1995 850 Gl Wagon - 105,000 miles, much more sophisticated than the 740s. So far this car is everything that I hoped it would be. After reading this site for several minths, I'm watching the transmission and air conditioner. When my wildlife biologist heads out this spring, she'll be driving this car. (Unless I can sell the two 740s and find a low milage 740 wagon before then.)
1995 850 sedan - 52,000 miles, My wife loves this low milage cream puff. I'd love to find a similar wagon.
In my opinion, you can't beat a Volvo. Especially if you are going to be hit right in the driver's door by a drunk driver at a traffic light, as my daughter was. Her 87 740 Turbo sedan gave its life for her. After the accident, the steering wheel was touching the roof!
I can't speak for the 900s, but I loved all six Volvos that we have owned.
