I talked to two seperate Volvo mechanics. One dealer guy, one independent. Both suggested checking the plug holes for melted water as some mentioned here. Then they both referred me to the PNP switch due to the fact that during a few restarts I got out of it at the time, the winter mode was coming on without been engaged. It then finally died for good when put into gear but would always crank. They still thought this was the PNP possibly. Who knows!
So I removed the battery box. Most of the snow was gone. Dryed all that PNP related stuff off and injected alot of WD40 everywhere and any place I could jam the WD40 straw into. Put back together and it was cranking much better, but my battery was going so I recharged and then it fired up and after 10 seconds or so it was back to normal.
Relieved. Was looking at a 120 mile tow job. Said some nasty things about this 98 S70, but all is now forgiven, hehe.
Appreciate all the advise.
