battery light comes on after switching off the engine

Serban,
If the old battery was replaced from old age only and the lamp is now coming on with the new battery then two things come to mind. Faulty battery (which sometimes happens with new)...or...connections have not been made properly with the new battery. OTOH, If you have been replacing batteries that have not aged, then indeed the charging system needs to be checked out....
