The small vacuum hose on the flame trap of my 1997 850 is broken, right next to the trap. As it goes under the intake manifold the hose is bundled up with a large hose that is I guess from the oil trap; since they are wrapped up I can't see what's involved in replacing it. Is this just a short rubber hose that I can fix without taking anything apart? Apparently somewhere under the manifold the rubber hose connects to a plastic line, but I can't tell where.
This is I believe the "other end" of the vacuum line featured at the beginning of the bay 13 discussion of rubber elbows and vacuum leaks (could be wrong about that since I can't see the line).
Side question: on my 1995 850 the small flame trap hose goes a short distance to the "vacuum tower" instead of across to the passenger side of the intake manifold. Why did Volvo decide the vacuum at the other end of the manifold is better than from the vacuum tower?
Thx,
Terry
