Factory Fog Light Install 850 1995

I inquired at the dealer about installing my own foglights. The guy at the parts counter mentioned that after the installation is done that i take the car back to the dealer so that the computer is updated to read that there are foglights installed. I found that rather surprising. I never saw that posted on this board.
