Some parking lots are tough on new cars.

I suggest telling your parents that they should hold on to their money for now, but scope out new cars in case you need a new one. For instance, if yours should suffer a serious breakdown, you could get a new one in a hurry.

Even with a new car, you could be without a car for a short period, for instance if you get into a damaging accident.

Good luck in school, keep your nose to the grindstone.
