I'm not all that much surprised. I know three Volvo dealeships in Ontario that have been using Castrol oil only. One even used 5W50 Castrol Synthec and when I pointed to them that Volvo doesn't recommend viscosity spread over 25 points their told me that this was the oil grade they were getting from Volvo.
