Intermittent Ticking.. Help 850

The ticking noise is explained in the owners manual as "normal" when the engine is cold. This can last up to fifteen minutes or more. What you are listening to are the hydraulic lifters. FWIW, I have just stopped using Mobil 1 (see previous post) as I found it made the lifters noisier.
