ECU Upgrade Reliability S70 1998

Considering purchasing a ECU upgrade. Has anyone had any long term reliability problems? Eveyone seems to agree there is a dramitic increase in peformance, but what are the consequences... Do engine/transmission parts wear much faster, etc. I want my Volvo to last considering turbo parts are so expensive. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
