It certainly sounds suspicious. If you decide to go any further I would first spend 29 dollars on a Carfax title search. That will tell you the history of the car with respect to mileage, major accident damage and flood damage. It should also give you some title information over the life of the car. I am sure that you are aware that the mileage on 96's and beyond can be read from the OBD socket using a reader.
