Trans Fluid /Coolant S70 2000

The coolant never touches anything but aluminum in the FWD "white engine" cars so that's why there's no change interval and IMO, not changing that in that engine has not been seen to be a problem as it lasts a very long time. Now, in time it gets to look a bit darker but it's still not breaking down and thus doing its job. We don't recommend flushing it unless we're doing other cooling system related work and there's another reason to drain the old coolant. At 70K, Volvo advises a new t-stat so that's probably a good time to replace your coolant too. Some people just like seeing new, fresh coolant in there but on those engines, it's just not very important.

Now.......the ATF is yet another story. Although it's considered to be "lifetime" ATF in your literature, Volvo says otherwise elsewhere and it's best to flush the fluid if and when it begins to look dark in color. Most people seem to go 60-70K miles before trans flushes but if it were my car, I'd do that more often as I do in all my auto trans cars. As mentioned below, it's cheap preventative maintenance and new fluid is always better than old contaminated fluid in a device as complicated and expensive as your auto trans.
