Dude,

I'm surprised that nobody has asked you this yet. Have you checked to see whether the economy/winter/sport switch on the center console next to the gear shifter has been accidently set to "winter"? My wife did that once and it just completely freaked her out. She thought the transmission just went out on her.

With this switch set to "winter", your described symptoms are exactly what would happen. Make sure this switch is set to "economy" and the little green light on the switch is on.
