I have the Volvo OEM one. The reason I choose it over the IPD skidplate is that since it's a Volvo part I thought it would minimize hassles with my Volvo dealer over service.

It looks like it should allow better cooling and better access to components for service.

As I indicated before, I thik it's really chintzy of Volvo not ot make this equipment standard, as they were on my (pre-GM) SAABs.
