In my case the reason for the switches not working is probably simply that they were never used! The contacts in all these switches are made of bare metal which oxidises. Pity the replacement cost does not reflect the cheapness of the materials used in their manufcature !
BTW, I really HATE WD40 !! I am an electronics engineer by trade, in many posts over the years I have seen so, so many products completely ruined by the use of WD40, which dissolves some plastics. It was intended for a corrosion inhibitor, it works in that regard.
