May very well be the spring seat for the one of the front struts. THe part is about $26 but is labor intensive - dealer will charge about $175 to replace.

Try this- with your hood open push down on your front bumper and watch the center retaining nut of your right strut and then your left strut. If the retaining nut moves up and down with the movement of the car - it's most likely the strut spring seat.

If indeed that is your problem - get it fixed as soon as you can. Worst case, you can hit a big bump and the strut could pierce your hood ( or so I've been told).
