Dave you'd be surprized. I already am invested in IRA's and a mutal fund that my parents set up when I turned 18. I balance responsiblity pretty well (though I still can't spell). I make my payments, put some away for retirement have a play toy car (the 242) and then drive my S60. I rarely ever abuse that car, I mean that burnout was a fluke, something out of pure boredom, and to be honest I really didn't think the the car was capable of it.
BTW, your right I don't pay rent though. I'm 19, but not that anxoius to move out. My family is self-employed, and because we couldn't scrape dimes for years, my parents will be lucky to retire ever, so YES I've picked up a few lessons along the way. Like I said, unless ANY of you actually have met me in person, I see no reason why you can judge me like the way I have been in the 20 or so posts below.
One more point, when you sell a show correct 69 bird for 16k, and put 10 towards the car and keep the other 6k as a cusion to make payments and work full time in the summer and 25 hrs a week @ 15$ an hour (and Im the WORST payed and I have 10 years experience) it's really not super difficult to afford that car. Hell my insurance really hasn't even changed from the bird to that car.
Just to go out of my way and prove that if you approach me (not like an ass) that I am a pretty normal person hit me up on AIM as sacPBplaya (paintball!) or VolvoRacer01 those are about the only two names Im on. Feel free just to shoot the breeze, talk cars/volvo's or if there is any guitar players out there let me know.
This is how I make some side money as well. I build these in my spare time and I sell for 200-500 dollars a pop depending on how extravogent they are.
