A piece of information that you came upon? How about the other pieces of information you came across before? I too do not focus on the negative but I do not blind myself from reality. (at least I do not provide links to sites that prove that BMW engines blow up!)

LIKE IT OR NOT, INITIAL QUALITY CAN AND DOES MANY TIMES FORECAST WHAT A CAR IS GOING TO BE LIKE...IN 1999, WHEN THE S80 FIRST CAME OUT, OUR INITIAL QUALITY WAS PRETTY BAD, FAR BELOW AVERAGE AND YOU KNOW THE RESULTS.

Initial quality surveys are a good indication of long-term trouble-free driving -- that's a good one! The CR subscribers who have been driving their cars for around 1 to 8 years are the same ones who report the 'actual' ownership experience and that is what makes up most of CR's reliability report. I do not completely discredit JD's initial quality survey. But I do weigh heavily CR's long-term surveys much more.

I wasn't saying that. If Volvos are changing to being more reliable then only time will tell.

IS IT A FLUKE THAT THE 2002 S80 HAS A LEXUS-LIKE 89 PROBLEMS PER 100 CARS AND WE DO NOT SEE THEM COME BACK UNLESS THEY ARE SCHEDULED FOR REGULAR SERVICE? IF YOU WANT TO DWELL ON NEGATIVITY GO AHEAD, THAT IS YOUR CHOICE.

Same for CR -- they did not make up the ratings, the hundreds of thousands of subscribers did.
