If you can move then by hand back and forth over the windshield then it sounds like one of the linkage connections is broken.

If memory serves I believe you will need to pull the plastic cowl air intake under the rear of the hood to get a look at what is going on. It's not too hard to pull and at it may help you figure out what broke.
