I have recently purchased an 850GLT from Japan that was built in Belgium and first registered in Japan in April 1993.However when I imported it to New Zealand I was required to obtain a "Letter of Compliance" from Sweden to enable the car to be registered in this country. With the 10th letter of the chassis number being a "P", I was sure the car was built in 1993. However when I received the letter, at a cost of $NZ562.00, it stated the year of manufacture to be 1992! The reason given was that although a "P", this car was actually built in 1992, not 1993. Can anyone confirm when the first of the 850's were built and how accurate is the 10th letter of the chassis number for buid year?.
Thanks for your help,
Regards
Ian
