More air S70 1998

I already have a K&N air filter installed since January 2002.

My Dad and I looked at the part again tonight. He is thinking maybe we could
drilled a few holes on this plastic part instead of removing it since Ed said
that it might be there for protection against foreign objects. Do you have any
opinions about that modification suggestions ?

Once again, I really appreciate your input.
