Haven't done it to my S70 (another story),but I have done it to my 940 (which was converted to R-134). It was bone dry, compresson never cycled on, but when I connected the can of R-134 to the system, it started cycling, sucked it in, and it's blowing cool air now. Hope this helps.
As for the S70, bought it in Jan, never check the AC. When I needed it, it blew warm. Brought it back to dealer, he recharged, and it was good for 2 months. Then again it started blowing warm. End of story is, the evaporator core needs replacing.
