I think Volvo extended the life to 15 yrs but there's no real way to check them other than checking for SRS codes and IF one were to exist, you'ld see the SRS light remain on. So, the answer is that as long as the SRS light is off, there's nothing more to be done.
I think that the 15 year interval means that that's when Volvo's "advising" that they be REPLACED, not just checked or serviced. There is no way to check or test them to see if they'll work correctly when deployed without deploying them which destroys it (one shot only). I have yet to see any customer request new airbags to date and Volvo has had airbags in the US since fall '86 with the '87 model year cars.
