is AC cycling a common problem in S70's?

I have a 1998-S70 that has a cycling AC compressor issue...but only on the hottest of days in the summer! I have read in the archives that AC compressor cycling is typically indicative of low refridgerant, so I think that will be the first issue I address. But I thought I would post just in case there was some known issue with the S70 AC system... Any known issues? Or is it most likely the ussual low r134?
