87 will work fine with no damage. The engine control sytem is programmed to adjust ignition timing so no detonation/pinging occurs.

That said, some have reported a slight loss of power and/or gas mileage. If you try 87 and really don't notice much difference...fine. It would be best to pick one grade or the other and stick with it rather than switch frequently.
