Mistery Sensor where is it?

Found switch, it's in a bracket under the bumper on the left side (driver side in the States) of the car near the radiator.

I think it's the one, because by diconnecting it, colling it, or by shorting the two pins in the plug, I get different temperature readings in the dash display unit.

My question is; Is this is the common sensor that's also used by the A/C ECU and if so, why would it claim not to be working properly. Short of a miswire to the ECU unit or its malfunction, are there any other possibilities?

thanks again.
