Mechanic is right. When the wheels are overtightened with the zip guns the rotors somehow become warped. In today's day and age of reducing weight on vehicles, rotors can't take tremendous amounts of force when wheels are overtightened. Make sure everyone who tightens your wheels torques them to 81 ft-pounds (110 N-meters). The one mechanic who forgets to do this will be the one who screws up your perfectly good rotors. Pain in the butt, ask me how i know.
