Who should be doing the 'right thing?!' 850

Glad to hear someone else has a normal view of the world. I live in CT and my car was originally from VT, so it's seen its share of hot humid weather. How big a job is it to change the evap? I've see the part for about $150 on the web.
I also heard that cars with the cabin air filter option don't have this problem as often.
