Ali,
Did you recently going thru an emission testing ? ... If so, read on:
I also have a 1998 Volvo S70 ( non-turbo ). That occurred on my '98 S70 last year too ( ABS light & TRACS light ) after the young punk at my gov't emission testing centre forgot to switch off the TRACS before doing the test. Basically,
my service manager told me what happened. The stupid, dumb-a$# young punk ran
the test ( somthing up to 60 km/hr ). During the test, the TRACS sense a loss in traction, TRACS kick in and out depending on the speed that the stupid punk ran the car at. Eventually, the TRACS / ABS motor got a little " burn-out ", sense a problem, which in turn caused the both lights to lit up.
Both lights went off after 2-3 days. No problems since then. Just for a peace of mind, I took my S70 back to my dealership. The service manager did a whole bunch of tests to test out the ABS and TRACS ( I dropped off the car on the way to university in the morning, got another S70 as a service loaner, picked up my S70 later in the afternoon after classes ). Confirmed that the ABS and TRACS were working as they are supposed to.
Oh yeah, I made sure the young punk got fired & NEVER work in any automotive field ever again in his god-damn life. My temperature hits beyond boiling point when anyone messed with my vehicles.
If it is really a faculty ABS module, you might be lucky if you are able to go down to your local scrapyard and rip one off a 850 or S/V/C70.
If I could be any more assistance, feel free to e-mail me directly - Always glad to lend a helping hand to a fellow Volvo owner in need.
Hope that helps,
---
