Your guys either lazy or setting you up for a charge others provide free.
My dealer understood that as a used car that radio codes need to be looked up. He told me that it can be done via the car's VIN or radio's number and it was no big deal to him. The only thing they require is proof of ownership such as registration. I Have 2 850s and have gone to 2 dealers for radio codes and both provided the code free of charge.
(One also showed me how to program the remote key fobs so they work on both cars)
Moral - there is a difference in dealers! If you have a choice, shop around.
